I got VAL in 14 days. SEV in 7 days. Timeline varies based on country, Institute and most importantly flawless application and Documents. My experience with EMGS says, they’re doing their job at level best provided we have done our part properly
Based on your country if SEV is required for you to enter into Malaysia, you need to get it from Embassy. Either thru Consultant or direct.
I applied directly to OSC Centre of Malaysian Embassy in Chennai
I assume you have received the VAL alreay as you are planning to apply for SEV. eVisa is SEV as well. Difference between normal Visa and eVisa is there won’t be any sticker/endorsed/seal of Visa in your passport. eVisa will be provided to you through email. Just bring the ikad and the letter from your uni stating your passport is in renewal process and contact number emergency of uni representative in case road block. In my case Penang no need passport but just bring your ikad just to be sure.
Sighhh Penang is domestic flight they dont require passport but just to be sure Ikad is not a passport replacement but act as it because students bringing passport everywhere will risk getting passport stolen or misplaced. Hence they issued an ikad act as an identification for intl students without having to bringing passport everywhere.
First try to manage accommodation before coming into Malaysia…if you haven’t managed yet…

2- They will help you with your post arrival medical check and it should be done in your first week , my advice do it the second…[Read more]
