The town that never sleeps! No, not New York…

There is a town that never sleeps in KL. There is a constant hustle and bustle both day and night.  Welcome to China Town. There are many reasons why China Town is a must see during your first few weeks in Malaysia. It will be a go-to-place for the rest of your stay in Malaysia. Bargains, massage parlours, nibbles, hotels and ………. restaurants!

Bargains

These include travelling bags, clothes, shoes, jewellery and so on. You can get something special at a very low price to complement your evening look or to pack your holiday items into next time you travel. The best time to get bargains is at the night market. It gets pretty packed so get ready to bump into people as you walk down the streets. Great place to shop for gifts if you are heading home for a short break.

Hotels

If you are studying outside KL, you can find some really cheap back packers lodges and hotels to put up at overnight when you visit KL. You will also get a chance to meet a lot of travellers from all around the world and make new friends.

Flowers

If you want to buy flowers for valentine’s or for a sick friend or for a funeral or for graduation!!!, buying from a retail florist  can be preeeeettty expensive. So, if you have nimble fingers and would like to have a go at making something special, head off to China town and buy flowers at a wholesale price, or get a ready made bouquet at a good price.

Here is the address for one wholesale supplier. You just need to get off at  Pasar Seni LRT station- walk s and then walk past the Maybank on your way to Petaling Street.

Massage

Going around sight seeing in KL can be tiring, so when you are ready for a break, you will find that there are plenty of massage parlours in China town. You can get chinese foot reflexology and foot massages for as little as RM30 for 30 minutes.

Nibbles

At the intersection of the roads in China town is a man who sells water chestnuts. If you are not from around South East Asia, this may be totally new to you. You can smell the cozy heartwarming of roasting chestnuts. Make sure you try these before you cross the junction. At this same junction, you will find hawkers selling fresh tropical fruit. If you have never tried, this you need to try fruits that are unique to South East Asia such as dragonfruit, ciku, rambutan, mangosteen, durian!! Now you have homework to go and find out what that is.

You could also find an outdoor restaurant to sit down at with your friends and enjoy the night life. Taking a walk down the streets during the night time will allow you to experience some of the tantalising smells of delicious hawker stall. You can enjoy the local way of life through your taste buds. Let your nose lead you.
