You dont have to go back to your country, but make sure ministry of education certify your certificate…make the necessary payment…your institution should advice you on how much you are required to pay. My visa expired in May, I applied for masters program in July.

Please note that if you have completed your course and intend of moving to another level, the institution can apply for a progression application and you can remain in the country during your application process. However, the approval is solely at the discretion of the Immigration Department.
