@tinashem …. Hi there.
I have a valid student visa until next year May. I completed my course this September. Although my student visa is valid my university (HELP) is forcing me to cancel my visa during the starting on November. Whereas I want to take time to search for my masters course or land with a job seeking a future in this country. I would like to know what can be done in this situation. Also is it legally valid for me to look for jobs or internships if available with the valid visa I have.Please do let me know about this.
Thank you.

I would suggest you talk to immigration concerning the possibility of staying in Malaysia with your visa. Chances are very little. You get the visa based on your university and it has the absolute right to ask for cancellation. If you want to join a masters degree then you have to cancel the visa, exit the country and apply for a new val. The regulations allow students to seek internships also part time jobs provided that the part time job is during the vacation. Usually, if you come to Malaysia on a social pass, you are allowed to have your prospective employer to apply for your work permit. Check with immigration if you can get the work permit given the fact that you are on a student visa. Logically and in my opinion you cannot do that because a student visa entails the fact that your university has responsibility towards students. Check also the working age. An expat in Mslaysia seeking employment in the majority of sectors must be 27 years old minimum, except in certain sectors like IT.
Hi Jibran,
It is advisable that you discuss this matter with your institution. Kindly note that you can only apply for an internship position with a Student Pass if the internship is part of your course. Since you have completed your studies it is not advisable to use the Student Pass to apply for internship positions. In the event that you do land a job in Malaysia, you will be required to cancel the Student Pass and apply for a Work Permit through your employer.
Have a nice day.
